What causes diaper rash?

Diaper rash is the most common issue in babies and young children, but it can occur at any age if diapers are worn. Diaper rash is commonly known in the industry as diaper dermatitis. It is defined as a skin problem that is caused by the skin staying wet, rubbing from the diaper, and contact with Urine and Stool. The skin can often look red, raw, scalded, or burned. While diaper rash is uncomfortable, generally it is not a severe problem. If the baby does have diaper rash, ensure that the diapers are changed as soon as possible and ensure the area is cleaned well with mild soap and water. Sometimes, babies will get diaper rash when a change in diet happens, or a new medication is introduced, this generally has no correlation to the diaper.
