Calcium & Phosphourous levels

Calcium is an essential nutrient needed for bone health. With regard to the level of calcium and phosphorous in our toddler formulas, the current amount of calcium recommended is a minimum of 60 milligrams per 100 Calories. Phosphorus is another important mineral for bone health. The minimum level of phosphorous is noted to be 30 milligrams per 100 Calories. The most important aspect of calcium and phosphorus to ensure good calcium absorption is the calcium to phosphorous ratio.

It is recommended that the calcium to phosphorus ratio in an infant formula be no less than 1.1 or more than 2.0. Baby's Only Organic® Dairy, Dairy with DHA and Soy formulas fall within these ranges with our calcium at 135 milligrams and phosphorus at 90 milligrams per 100 Calories with a calcium to phosphorus ratio of 1.5. Baby's Only Organic® Whey Dairy formula contains 110 mg calcium and 75 mg phosphorous with a ratio of 1.5. Baby’s Only Organic® LactoRelief™ Formula contains 84 milligrams of calcium and 56 milligrams of phosphorus with a ratio of 1.5. Thus, Baby’s Only Organic® formulas all provide an appropriate overall quantity of calcium and phosphorus needed for young children.
