PediaSmart Label Change

Is this okay to use before age 2?

The label for PediaSmart has changed to meet current FDA labeling regulations but it is the same product with the same ingredients and nutrition content.  Because PediaSmart has a higher caloric and nutrient content than our Baby’s Only Organic toddler formulas, our label now recommends checking with your child’s healthcare provider regarding use of  PediaSmart for children under 2 years of age with  a medical condition requiring complete nutrition.

Is there an upper age limit any longer?

Any child over the age of 2 or even an adult can use the formula as a supplement to the daily diet.  The nutrient content of PediaSmart is based on the nutrient needs of a child 4 to 8 years of age.  When PediaSmart is to be used as a sole source of nutrition, it is important that a healthcare professional/registered dietitian be involved in the use of PediaSmart  regardless of a child’s age.   PediaSmart offers complete nutrition because it contains all of the nutrients needed by the body but there may be medical or nutritional situations where the amount of PediaSmart actually fed per day may not provide adequate levels of certain nutrients based on the child’s age, weight, and height.  The healthcare professional/registered dietitian may recommend  a specific vitamin and/or mineral supplement based on the child’s medical and nutritional status.

Questions about it being used for a sole source of nutrition for an older child?

Since some older children may need a vitamin/mineral supplement, depending upon the amount used per day, please forward this type of question to Diane for follow-up with the customer.
